Victorians may now be eligible for free combination nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), such as nicotine patches plus gum, lozenges or mouth spray, with tailored support from trained Quitline counsellors throughout their quit journey.
Combination nicotine replacement therapy uses a nicotine patch together with a fast-acting NRT product. This approach can improve a person’s chances of quitting compared with using a single NRT product alone.
To be eligible, a person must:
- Live in Victoria
- Be trying or planning to quit
- Be a new Quitline client willing to receive call-back counselling, or an existing Quitline client within two weeks of quitting.
Pregnant people are not eligible for this program because nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is not usually recommended as the first option for quitting during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, you can still access personalised counselling and support through Quitline on 13 7848.
