Extended COVID-19 emergency workforce

There are opportunities for you to join SEPHU’s vaccination workforce. This page contains information on extended COVID-19 emergency workforce for vaccination.

As of Wednesday 1 September 2021, a Public Health Emergency Order in Victoria was authorised to expand the workforce classes eligible to support delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations across Victoria, which now include Allied Health, Dental and Oral Health, Medical/Science Laboratories, further student groups and more. The full list is below.


Emergency authorised surge workforce (prepare and administer vaccinations)

Dental and oral health workforce

Allied health workforce

Pharmacy workforce

Aboriginal Health Practitioner

Pathology workforce


Emergency authorised surge workforce (prepare vaccinations only)

Laboratory science, research and technician workforce

Medical laboratory science and pharmacy students, and dental assistants


Before preparing and administering vaccinations, training is required and will be provided to you at no cost. Steps are as follows:

1. Complete the three online State and Commonwealth courses/modules. These can be completed prior to applying or after, although must be completed before you are allocated a practical training session.

Please note: When entering information for the Commonwealth COVID-19 Vaccination Training Program, Allied Health registered professions should only Select ‘Health Professionals without an AHPRA number’.

2. After completing the above training and submitting your completion document, you will be contacted to arrange your practical lab training component at Monash University.

3. After completing your training, you will be rostered to one of Monash Health’s vaccination sites to complete induction and orientation, and practical competencies with real consumers, and approved by authorised immunisers.
