SEPHU administers 500,000 COVID-19 vaccinations

Monash Health and partner organisations of the South East Public Health Unit (SEPHU) have reached the significant milestone of administering over 500,000 COVID-19 vaccinations to our community in the south-east catchment.

Established in 2020, SEPHU faced the challenge of a pandemic and the teams quickly set up programs to prevent and respond to the spread of COVID-19 in the south-east suburbs of Melbourne and along the Peninsula. A key part of that work has been rolling out the COVID-19 vaccination program to the community in a joint effort with SEPHU’s vaccination and engagement partners.

SEPHU Director Professor Rhonda Stuart said the 500,000 vaccine doses milestone was a testament to the collaboration and commitment of everyone involved in SEPHU.

“Every one of the 500,000 doses administered go toward Victorian’s efforts to get back to a way of life we’ve all missed and the millions of reasons we want to do so,” Professor Stuart said.

“To everyone who plays a role at the health services, hospitals, local councils and community leaders supporting the community to be vaccinated: thank you for your ongoing and outstanding work”.

“The enthusiasm we continue to see from people booking their vaccinations is incredible, and we look forward to welcoming the many people to come.”

More vaccine doses continue to be made available for those who have not yet received their vaccination. In addition, as of Friday 20 August, people will be able to book a drive-through vaccination at the Sandown Racecourse.

To check your eligibility and to book your vaccine appointment, you can find the latest information on how to book on our SEPHU website booking page.
